Overview
The Palestine Cultural Series is hosting a screening of Palestinian director Elia Suleiman’s Divine Intervention, a dry comedy about daily Palestinian life between Jerusalem and Ramallah.
The film follows the story of Palestinian lovers from Jerusalem and the West Bank, who are separated by an Israeli army checkpoint. In a series of sketches, they arrange clandestine meetings in a satirical look at life on both sides of the Palestinian-Israeli border.
Upon release, the film was celebrated by critics, and was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
Following the screening, Assistant director on the film, Rania Stephan will be talking to us through Zoom to answer questions about the film and its making.
