Tea and study in the KSJ

Special Study Week 2020

A unique opportunity for part-time students to study, relax and enjoy the benefits of Cambridge

Tea and study in the KSJ

25 July – 2 August 2020

Part-time study at Cambridge is a wonderful opportunity – but we know that it can have its frustrations.  It can be difficult to find dedicated time in a life crammed with work and other commitments, and hard to make the most of being a Cambridge student.

The Wolfson Special Study Week offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the life of the College while you take some time out to concentrate on your research.  Whether you need to do some concentrated reading, to kick-start your writing, or to complete a crucial chapter, the week is designed to provide the environment and the support that will help you achieve your study goals.

You’ll be given a warm Wolfson welcome, a variety of structured working spaces, and plenty of opportunities for relaxation and stimulating conversation with others working in different fields.

What’s on offer

  • The semi-structured programme will include:
  • Peer writing-group sessions
  • Library skills sessions – for groups or 1–1
  • Drop-in tea and coffee breaks
  • And between times …
  • Drinks reception
  • Formal Hall
  • Daily Study Week Lunch Table with part-time tutors and other members of staff
  • WCSA social events
  • Walk to Grantchester for tea in the Orchard
  • Walking tour of Cambridge centre and Colleges
  • College Choir taster session

During your stay in College, you can of course enjoy use of the gym, our lovely peaceful gardens, and local countryside walking routes.

Who is it for?

The week is open to any Wolfson part-time student, on any course, in any year.

You can book accommodation for many days as you like. But we do hope you’ll be able to stay for a week – which could include either or both weekends, to suit your diary.

Those living locally or who would prefer to make other accommodation arrangements are very welcome to participate in the week. You should still register for the week, so you will receive information and updates as they become available.

The programme will run throughout the week, but workshops and the Formal Hall will be on core week days.
