11th Wolfson Research Event to showcase innovative student research

WRE 2018 (C) Nathan Pitt
25/04/2022

Now in its eleventh year, the Wolfson Research Event (WRE) returns this week under the theme "Exploring Intersections".

WRE 2018 (C) Nathan Pitt

WRE is one of the highlights of the College calendar, showcasing groundbreaking and innovative research from current Wolfson students, alongside internationally renowned keynote speakers

Free and open to all, this two-day programme features a packed schedule of 15 speakers, 14 poster presentations, and three keynotes. The event will take place in the Lee Hall from 11.00 across Fri 29 and Sat 30 April.

Exploring Intersections

The theme for this year’s Research Event is Exploring Intersections, which itself builds on the College’s current focus Wolfson Explores: GROWTH. Speakers will be grappling with connections and crossovers within and between their disciplines, as well as the advantages of harnessing different knowledges, experiences and perspectives in responding to complex contemporary issues.

As a mature college, many of Wolfson’s students come to Cambridge with a problem to solve or an issue they’ve seen first-hand they want to interrogate. WRE is a perfect platform to share this work with the world.

Audience members will be encouraged to discover and engage with unfamiliar ideas, perspectives, and approaches. Our social, political, and environmental realities demand that we think creatively and step outside our comfort zones. By through collaboration and effective communication, we can uncover new solutions together.

Keynote speakers

This year’s keynote speakers are: Dr Mikołaj Barczentewicz (Surrey Law and Technology Hub), Dr Giles Yeo MBE (MRC Metabolic Diseases Unit, University of Cambridge) and Prof Stephani Hatch (Health Inequalities Research Group, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, Kings College London).

You can find the full 2022 WRE programme on the Wolfson Research Event 2022 webpage.
