Teaching accolades for Wolfson geographers

Recognition for excellence in teaching and academic support.

Wolfson's Director of Studies for Geography, Dr Harriet Allen, has been awarded a Pilkington Prize for teaching. Dr Allen, who is a Fellow of Girton College, is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and she lectures and supervises for all three years of the undergraduate degree in addition to supervising PhD and MPhil Enivronmental Science students. She is the Director of Studies for first year geographers, and shares the DoS role for third year students. 

The Pilkington Prizes are awarded annually to members of staff in recognition of their contributions to teaching excellence. The awards were initiated by Sir Alastair Pilkington, who believed that the quality of teaching was crucial to the University's success.

Student-led awards

Wolfson Junior Research Fellow Dr Olga Petri has been shortlisted in the CUSU Student-Led Teaching Awards 2020 in the category of Student Support (Academic). Dr Petri is an urban historical geographer and a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Research Fellow in the Department of Geography.
