The American pianist Kristin Loretta Barone-Samadi (b.1984), a native of New York, a graduate of Queens College CUNY, and former faculty member of Adelphi University has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician and is now based in Cambridge. At this concert she will perform with her fellow trio members from New York, clarinettist, Medina and viola player Laura Thompson, in a specially recorded concert for Wolfson.
Persephone Trio recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of their first performance in New York City. They undertook a substantial repertoire consisting of Milhaud's Suite, Khachaturian's Trio, and Bartok’s Contrasts. Clarinetist Medina, Violist Laura Thompson, and Pianist Kristin Samadi have since then collaborated virtually on Schumann’s Fairy Tales. Post-pandemic they plan to return to concertizing in New York, New York; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Cambridge, England.
Their programme will include:
Kristin Samadi, Piano - Rachmaninov Prélude in G Major Op. 32 No. 5
Medina, Clarinet - Kaija Saariaho Duft for solo clarinet (2011)
Laura Thompson, Violin - Eugène Ysaÿe Violin Sonata No.2
Trio: Robert Schumann Märchenerzählungen op. 132
