Effective designation of Protected Areas requires the careful consideration of their social impacts. These refer to a variety of issues such as the distribution of power, social equity, social relations and more importantly the impact of Protected Areas on people’s wellbeing. In this talk, Dr Jones will analyse the different types of social impacts that have been recorded by academic studies in European Protected Areas, the region with the largest in proportion number of protected spaces across the world. She will also discuss how COVID-19 is shifting the way protected areas are managed in the region and more importantly how the coronavirus crisis is expected to change the relationship between protected areas, visitors and local communities.

This is a virtual event held as a zoom webinar. Please register to attend.

As a webinar attendee, you can view the speakers' and hosts' videos and see their presentations. The Q&A facility allows you to engage with the speakers after the talk. You do not need a camera yourself, as attendee videos are not shown. More information on how to join a webinar is available here.
